The Origin of the “Russian” Esther: Hebrew –> Hellenistic Greek –> Syriac –> Slavonic

The earliest Slavonic Esther is a translation of a Second Temple Jewish (otherwise unknown) recension written in Greek. There was a Syriac translation between the Greek and the Slavonic.
